Inferno Auctions happen randomly every 1-2 months. On the day of an Inferno Auction, the new artwork is revealed on the top of the website.
The auction lasts for a few hours, during which registered bidders submit their bids for the artwork. At the same time, people can press the "BURN" button which is located below the artwork.
By the end of the auction, if the "BURN" button has been pressed more times than the highest bid, the artwork burns on livestream. Limited edition prints of the artwork are issued instead, for the next 24 hours.
Details
Pressing the "BURN" button
The "BURN" button only becomes active during Inferno Auctions.
Each person may press the "BURN "button multiple times, however there is a cooldown to prevent spam and bots.
The number of times the "BURN" button is pressed, is only revealed after the auction has ended and the winning bid for the artwork has been locked.
When is the next Inferno auction?
There is no specific timeframe during which the Inferno Auctions occur. The next one could be happening in two weeks or in one year.
Only those in the notification newsletter and registered bidders are notified beforehand.
How do I register as a bidder?
The vetting process for registered bidders is extensive, thorough and conducted by a third party. Since the performance act of the livestream auction is very sensitive to “troll” bids, a series of steps is taken before confirming your active bidder status.
